Password-less Twitter accounts?
For anyone that benefits from direct customer feedback, a “password-less” Twitter account would be an extremely useful way to get snippets of feedback. Let me explain…
I am a software developer, and any feedback at all goes a long way to making my product better. So I’d create a “password-less” account called HabitShaperFeedback, and put a little input box on my homepage. Any user that wants to leave a feedback snippet simply types there, and submits. No need to have a Twitter account, or to sign-in if you do. I as the developer can follow that account, and so can anyone else that is interested.
The benefits, as I see it, are that it is quick, effortless, and anonymous. I suspect the amount of feedback would greatly increase. More feedback, better product. It is also completely transparent, in that everyone sees this feedback, good or bad.
This transparency might be seen as a drawback for some, who would prefer to show the positive comments and suppress the negatives. But that’s the point. A bigger drawback would be a higher volume of lame and irrelevant comments from losers. But hopefully your site already attracts a higher calibre of visitors.
Finally, I see a great opportunity for Twitter itself in this, because it can easily be made to turn a profit. Since it is primarily of use to small business owners who derive a direct benefit from it, Twitter could charge a small fee to create these password-less accounts. Or it could be free, but limited to a certain number of comments/month; pay to get more.
